Week of March 6th- 10th:
Important Dates: The Book Fair is this week! This is a great way to preview great books and purchase books to read at home. Please support this great event and enjoy a wonderful read aloud done by our teachers here at Enterprise on Wednesday, March 8th! I hope to see you all there!
This week we are learning about regrouping with subtraction in math. This is such a hard concept for the students. Please help your child with this tricky concept. We sent home strategies to help you on the back of the math unit letter. We are all used to the "old" way but there are some helpful strategies to help students understand why we regrouping and how it is done.
In reading, we are moving into drawing conclusions/ inferences. This can be tricky for the students. Help your child understand what the "author says in between the lines" by discussing the reading and understanding overarching themes. We will begin research writing during our language arts block as well. We will be moving away from word sorts since we are not seeing a lot of the students apply these skills in their independent work. Instead, we will be completing activities during guided reading centers and whole group activities.
In science, we will learn about habitats. We will begin this with discussing living and nonliving things. New unit guides will go home tomorrow as well as a new math sheet for routine ideas. As always, let me know if you know if have any questions.
