Welcome to our Website!
Week of April 18th- April 21st:
I hope everyone has an awesome Spring Break! Thankfully the weather looks like it will be warming up- enjoy the outdoors as much as possible! Happy Holidays to all our friends who are celebrating a holiday over this spring break.
Thursday, April 20th - Math Test Unit 7 Part A
Friday, April 21st- Math Test Unit 7 Part B and Plants as Natural Resources Test
In math, we will be wrapping up our fraction unit. The students have been doing awesome with this concept! Continue to encourage your child to look at different fraction models (a rectangle divided into 4 equal parts with one part shaded and a rectangle divided into 3 equal parts with one part shaded) and compare them. Which fraction is less than? Which is more than? Compare these models using the symbols <, >, and =. Continue to practice math facts at home. Our goal is to be fluent in number sentences to 20 for our 2nd graders. Keep them challenged!
In reading, we will begin studying text features (table of contents, headings, bold words, captions, photographs, and glossaries). Please help your child recognize the importance of these features and how they help us in reading. If you have any nonfiction books at home, review the text features that can be found in that book.
In science, we will be wrapping up our plants unit. Have students review what plants need to survive, how they provide as a natural resource, and what plants grow in Virginia.
Have a great week and always thank you for your support!
