It is hard to believe that the year is coming to the end. It is very exciting to see all what your child has learned in all content areas. This month of May we will learn many things. In Language Arts students will demonstrate comprehension of fictional texts and making connections to our reading. Also informational writing. In Social Studies we will learn about maps and globes. In Science: seasons and life cycles, living and non-living things, and magnets. In Math we continue learning addition and subtraction. Also, we will learn about fraction as a set and/or region that represent fractions for haves, whole, and fourths. Please make sure to review these concepts at home.
Please make sure your child counts to 100, counts by 5s and 10s, identifies coins and their value, recognizes all the shapes (circle, triangle, rectangle, and square), knows the sight words we sent home, and knows all letters and sounds. Please make sure your child knows how to write his/her name and last name correctly. Continue practicing writing small stories and make sure your child starts with capital letter, leave spaces between words, and put a period at the end of the sentence. Please read everyday and ask questions about the story to develop comprehension.
Important: PALS and DRA testing week of May 15-19 and 22-26.
