Rocket Connections Notes – November 7, 2024:
  • Discussing how many fundraisers we are interested in/type of fundraiser
    • Krispy Kreme – more work: collecting money/distribution
    • Chuck E Cheese – possibly more affordable, interactive with kids because the mouse comes to visit
      • Ms. Pascual will call and pick date with Chuck E Cheese and ask how long it takes to get the funds (turnaround time). Looking at a Friday in February (2/7 or 2/21); Info will be given to Mrs. Nickerson to get approval
    • Chipotle – higher percentage than others (33%); looking at Tuesday, March 11 (tentative)
    • Still looking at Chick Fil A
    • Fun Run – put together by ourselves; funds used for an end of year/Spring carnival (Mrs. Nickerson’s idea
      • Carnival – need to have planned by March if we want bounce house, dunk booth, etc bc permits are needed
    • For fundraising events – Mrs. Nickerson has to have info for what the money will go towards – Discussed about $500/club
    • Current business partnerships: Water Company, former partnership with Boxes for Basics
      • Parents asked about approaching businesses; Kelly said she would look at regulations for donations – must be approved by Central Office. Told parent she could try it and then let her know and they can put in for approval after
Types of clubs discussed: running, art, girls on the run, science,
-kept going back to it would depend on what staff
              -Ms. Rose will put out interest survey to teachers to see if anyone would be willing to lead a club in Spring time (lots of teachers don’t know you get paid)
Budget: super tight, 99% going to staffing right now,
-supplies parents could donate; ideas: tissue tower competition across classrooms/grade levels (December challenge)
Class/Room Parents
-Birthdays: celebrations allowed at school, but it must be non-food related; small books, dollar store items, pencils
T-Shirts:
No additional info from Mrs. Meanchop. She’s requesting info be sent to her from the school.  
Questions:
Parent asked about Facebook page. Cannot this year because it’s passed the cut-off date. Must be approved by Central office

-Don’t believe we got picked for 2nd grade pool field trip
-Parent Question about changing the mascot away from rockets; been done in the past, would have to go through advisory
-Budget: super tight, but not the worst it’s been
