The Spanish Program at Enterprise Elementary is part of the World Language in Elementary Schools (WLES) program. This model for early foreign-language learning offers instruction for short periods of time (45 minutes) every six days of classes. The goal is to familiarize the students with a basic knowledge of Spanish by focusing initially on listening and speaking skills. As these skills develop, we gradually introduce reading and writing skills. The classes are conducted in Spanish, with an emphasis on using the language in context, rather than using translation or grammar drills.

Spanish at ENES is not a graded subject. We do not give homework. We use informal assessments and rubrics to determine how your child is learning and to guide our teaching.

I am looking forward to introducing the Spanish language and culture to all of our students, helping them in their new language acquisition. We will begin the year for Kindergarten and 1st graders by introducing basic greetings, numbers, colors, body parts, and everyday vocabulary. In 2nd through 5th grades, we will integrate previously learned vocabulary and concepts into more complex language structures. It is a priority that all students talk during class in Spanish to help them practice the new skills.

Thank you for the opportunity to teach your children. Their eagerness to learn brings excitement and energy to our program. Please feel free to contact me by email with any questions or comments.
